OneSeed is a fast casual restaurant that puts a spin on healthy, fresh, and seasonal ingredients by reinventing classic dishes. The Chef/GM is a hybrid role and will be the team leader responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of OneSeed, opening at 111 Murray Street, New York, NY in Q1 2020. The Chef/GM will be responsible for maintaining the overall quality of food, beverage and hospitality/service and will protect the financial interests of the business. The Chef/GM will maintain relationships with the building s property manager as well as all vendor and community relationships. The Chef/GM will report directly to the OneSeed partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve results and targeted goals in all aspects of food, beverage, service, hospitality, operations and financial performance. To include, but not limited to the following:
    • Financial Goals and Performance
    • Health and Safety Compliance
    • Store Operations
    • Purchasing Efficiencies
    • Culinary Systems
  • Responsible for ensuring the safe opening and closing of the store for each operating day
  • Oversee all culinary production and execution, to include: food prep, cooking, presentation,service, cleaning
  • Oversee all daily accounting functions to include: point-of-sales management, cash handling and daily reconciliation
  • Work in conjunction with OneSeed s accounting oversight partner to reconcile sales and weekly/daily/monthly accounting/financial reports
  • Perform all staff support functions and manage employee relations to include: hiring, management, payroll, scheduling, training
  • Work in conjunction with OneSeed s HR oversight/compliance partner for payroll and benefits administration
  • Develop and administer ongoing staff education and development programs
  • Responsible for facility maintenance and inventory management
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Proactively manage the space by conducting regular assessments/spot checks, refining processes and regularly reviewing DOH and safety compliance, operational and capital budgets, and conducting guest satisfaction audits
  • Field all guest complaints and strive to resolve satisfactorily
  • Regularly evaluate food and beverage for quality
  • Community engagement, development and nurturing community/neighborhood relationships
  • Provide weekly operations report to the partners
  • Develop yearly operations and financial plans, including the development of the OneSeed operating manual
  • Utilize F&B experience to continuously assess, analyze, improve operational effectiveness, and achieve overall business operational plans and goals
  • Participate in the creative process with the partners to help further the brand and brand identity
  • Communicate effectively with all team members and guests through telephone, written, and electronic communications
  • Apply best practices in the interpretation and compliance of all policies, rules and regulations
  • Ensure a high level of hospitality and guest satisfaction throughout the operation

Areas of Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 8+ years senior fast casual retail food and beverage management experience
  • Bachelor s degree or certification in hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership, organization and retail management experience
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Experience and proven record of financial reporting/P&L management
  • Proven vendor/partnership management abilities
  • Culinary expertise and experience
  • Point-of-sale system expertise
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Food safety knowledge
  • Proven ability to lead a team
  • Logistical planning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Excellent initiative & follow through skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Proven work record of safe work practices and efficient time management skills.
